Replace Missing Front teeth with Tooth Colored filling, Implant or denture

Are you missing your front teeth? Or do you have decay (cavity) on some or most of your front teeth and wondering how to fix or replace them?

Your smile is very important, it reflects on you, it gives you confidence and is proven to make one approachable. The first thing people see when they see you is your front teeth, your smile. Fairly or unfairly, you’re judged by what your smile looks.

Many options are available to remedy problems that one may have on front teeth.

If there are cavities on front teeth, but the decay is not too deep, it can easily be cleaned and replaced with a tooth colored filling. It can also be replaced with a Veneer or Crown depending on what the patient chooses. As indicated in the picture below, patient came in with lot of decay on front teeth, and patient opted for tooth colored fillings. As you can see in the picture below, we cleaned the decay, and replaced it with tooth colored fillings. If the patient wanted to, it could also have been replaced with Veneers which would look even better. But she left with a beautiful smile.

In more advanced decay situations, as shown below, when the decay has reached the nerve of the tooth, then a root canal treatment will be necessary before the tooth can be restored with tooth colored fillings or crowns.

In an even more advanced decay situation where there is not much tooth structure left to work with, extraction of teeth is recommended to prevent infection. In this case, the options to replace extracted teeth will be:

  1. Implant

  2. Partial Denture

  3. Full Denture

An implant is the best treatment available to replace missing teeth. It does not affect any adjacent tooth; an implant is place into the place where your tooth used to be, and a crown is placed on top of the implant to complete the treatment.  Picture below shows xray image of an implant used to replace one missing tooth.  The fake tooth will be placed a few weeks or months after the implant is stable.

A partial denture will be considered an option if you’re missing some teeth, but you still have some remaining teeth in your mouth. As the name implies, it’s partial, it will have teeth in some areas, and the remaining structure will be acrylic, and it is removable. It is recommended removing your partial denture every night to give your mouth a break.

A full denture is considered when you do not have any other remaining teeth. There are different types of dentures available. Check our next article for details. We provide these treatements at Hobby Dental, call us at 832-767-4782 or goto our website at www.hobbydental.com for details.
